The rail heat of the electromagnetic railgun directly affects the launching performance and service life, but there is still a lack of corresponding test principles and methods for quantitatively testing the rail heat. In this article, by analyzing the influencing factors of the rail heat test method, the problem of the average temperature test faced by the rail heat test is solved. The influence law of loading current changes on the test principle is obtained, and the test principle is extended to meet the requirements of the rail heat test. The results show that after the rail is heated by transient heat sources for a certain time (the time is related to the number of temperature test points), the rail heat is proportional to the average temperature change of the rail, and the calibration relationship is independent with the loading time, loading form and composition of transient heat sources. Finally, based on the test principle, a rail heat test method in the railgun under continuous firing mode is established.
