摘要
In recent years, a number of large cities have employed intelligent transportation system (ITS) methods to reduce traffic congestion. Under the sponsorship of the ITS Joint Program Office (JPO), Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) has developed a metropolitan ITS infrastructure deployment tracking system. The purpose of this system is to provide Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and JPO with an assessment of the level of deployment of the components of the intelligent transportation infrastructure (ITI). Detailed data on the amount, place, benefits, and cost of the deployment of the urban ITI have been gathered for seventy-eight (78) of the largest urban areas, with the population over 50,000 or more. This paper describes an innovative study, using various data mining and data archiving techniques, to assess the operational benefits of advanced traffic management systems to take advantages of the ITS systems and to manage many available ITS infrastructure already in place.
