Effects of Runmuling on tears of patients with aqueous tear deficiency (ATD)

OBJECTIVE To investigate the effects of Runmuling on tears of the patients with ATD. METHODS Seventy-five patients with ATD were randomly divided into Runmuling group (37 cases),and placebo group (38 cases). Patients of both groups had been treated for 8 weeks. RESULTS Schirmer-I test showed increased tear production,prolonged tear film break -up time and obviously improved dry eye symptoms after Runmuling treatment and difference was statistically significant (P0.01); Tear film break-up time and dry eye symptom were statistically significant between two groups after 8 weeks' treatment. (P0.05) CONCLUSIONS Runmuling was obviously effective on treatment of ATD.
