Objective To investigate the expression of MMP2 and MMP9 in endometrial carcinoma and its relation to the tumor invasion and metastasis. Methods MMP2 and MMP9 were detected in tissue specimens by immunohistochemical method in 121 cases of endometrial carcinoma. Results In endometrial carcinoma, the expression of MMP2 and MMP9 were increased significantly as comparing with normal endometrium(P0.01). Expression of MMP2 and MMP9 were significantly correlated with myometrial invasion and tumor grade. Conclusion MMP2 and MMP9 may have an important role in the invasion mechanism of endometrial carcinomas.
