Study on Influencing Factors of Gelatin Films

Gelatin films were prepared by the simple manual-coating technology.The effects of the concentration and pH of gelatin solution,amount of plasticizer-glycerin and ethanol on the tensile strength of gelatin films were studied.The results showed that:(1)the tensile strength of gelatin films increased as the concentration of gelatin increasing and reached a maximum;(2)when the pH of film-forming solution was about 7.0,the as-prepared gelatin film had the maximal tensile strength;(3)the drying time of gelatin films increased and the tensile strength decreased with the amount of glycerin;(4)the tensile strength of gelatin film reached a maximum when the amount of ethanol was about 10 %of gelatin;(5) and the swelling ratio of gelatin films changed with the different buffer solutions.
