The Development and Application of Energy Storage Technology

The classification of the energy storage technology,including the basic principles and domestic and international profile of chemical energy storage(such as lithium-ion batteries,sodium sulfur batteries,flow batteries,etc.),physical storage(such as pumped storage,compressed air energy storage,flywheel energy storage,etc.),and electromagnetic energy storage(such as superconducting magnetic energy storage,super capacitors,etc.) is described briefly.The important role the energy storage technology plays on realizing safe,reliable and stable operation of power grid,solving the influences caused by renewable energy such as wind power paralleling in the grid,and the problems of electricity imbalance is point out in this paper.
