AIM To observe the effects produced by melanocytes (MC) on the proliferation of hypertrophic scar fibroblasts (HSFib). METHODS The supernatants, collected from the MC culture, was added to the cultivated HSFib, the MTTmethods, 3HTdR in corporation were employed to measure the cell proliferation, DNA synthesis. RESULTS After 48 hours, the supernatant from the MC culture was added to HSFib, the HSFib proliferated strongly (P0.05), compared with the control group. The DNA of HSFib synthesied faster by 1.4, 2.6, 3.8, 3 times compared with that control group (P0.01) except the MC1 group. CONCLUSION MC could secrete active products to enhance DNA synthesis and the proliferation of HSFib, and have association with the scar and pigment formation.
