Application and development of thermal barrier coatings used in gas turbine

Thermal Barrier Coatings(TBC)present excellent thermal insulation properties and high temperature oxidation resistance.The utilization of TBC on gas turbine can significantly improve the durability of the hot-section components and the efficiency can also be enhanced.In this paper,some key issues involved in TBC used in gas turbine,i.e.the TBC materials,deposition technique and coating structures,were reviewed and the failure mechanisms were discussed.finally,the development trends of the TBC were proposed.
