摘要
High-entropy ceramics are novel materials with no less than five different cations and anions. Their compositional and structural diversity makes them potential structural and functional materials for a wide range of applications. Here, the recent progress in this rapidly growing field is summarized by examining the atomic-scale structural features and notable properties of high-entropy ceramics. The enhancement of properties utilizing entropy stabilization or configurational disorder is emphasized. After addressing the current effort to explore their vast compositional space, future opportunities and the advanced tools needed to identify new HECs are discussed.
