摘要
Biological pest control is a critical component of sustainable agriculture, offering environmentally friendly alternatives to chemical pesticides. This chapter focuses on the latest innovations and emerging technologies that are transforming biological pest control, including genetic engineering, RNA interference (RNAi) technology, drones, and artificial intelligence (AI). These advancements are enhancing the precision, effectiveness, and scalability of pest management practices, making them more adaptable to various agricultural environments. However, the widespread adoption of biological pest control faces several significant challenges. Regulatory hurdles, cost considerations, and a lack of farmer awareness are among the primary barriers that need to be addressed. Overcoming these obstacles requires the development of cost-effective solutions, streamlined regulatory processes, and comprehensive education and outreach programs to promote broader adoption. Looking forward, the potential for further advancements in biological pest control is immense. Continued research and innovation, combined with global collaboration, will be essential in addressing the current challenges and ensuring the sustainability of agricultural systems. By embracing these technologies, we can significantly reduce the environmental impact of pest management while enhancing food security and agricultural productivity. Biological pest control represents a vital tool for the future of sustainable agriculture. The integration of emerging technologies and the concerted efforts to overcome existing challenges will play a crucial role in securing the long-term health and productivity of our global food systems.
