Innovative Application of Lift Barge to Mobilize MODU into Shallow Water

ABSTRACT Transworld Drilling Company's utilization of auxiliary lift barges to buoy large submersible MODUs extends the shallow-water operating range of these units. These large submersible MODUs offer greater storage and hookload capability than MODUs typically used on shallow-water locations. Two case histories describe the technical and logistical details associated with this innovative application of existing equipment.
