Presents exact throughput and stability analysis of the FDDI network system under general traffic configurations and a single asynchronous priority level of service. the authors obtain results relating each station's throughput to the system throughput. By exploiting these relations, the maximum throughput of a symmetrically loaded system and the throughput of a (nonsymmetrically) heavily or partially-heavily loaded system are derived. They develop a procedure for conducting throughput and stability analysis. They identify stable stations and compute the throughput levels attained by heavily loaded stations.>
