Interaction between presenilins and amyloid precursor protein and production of the A_β

Amyloid(A β ) accumulation in the cerebral cortex is an invariant pathological event in the development of Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Production of A β is related to interaction between presenilins and amyloid precursor protein. Mutations in presenilin 1 gene、presenilin 2 gene and amyloid precursor protein gene could change normal metabolism of amyloid precursor protein and lead to overproduction of A β . Establishment of transgenic mouse model enhanced studies of molecular mechanism of AD,including interaction between presenilins and amyloid precursor protein and production of the A β .
