Effect of Shenqi Huayu Formula on p53 Gene Expression in Rats with Hepatocellular Carcinoma

Objective:To observe the effect of Shenqi Huayu Formula on p53 gene expression in tumor-bearing mice,and to explore its mechanism in influencing H22 hepatoma cells.Methods:Sixty mice transplanted with H22 hepatoma cells were randomly divided into six groups:high-,middle-and low-dose Shenqi Huayu Formula groups(gastric gavage of 0.4mL of the decoction of Shenqi Huayu Formula),cyclophosphamide(CTX) group [intraperitoneal injection of 0.2mL of CTX at the concentration of 20mg/(kg·d)],model group(gastric gavage of 0.4mL of normal saline),and negative control group.The medication was carried out once a day and lasted 14 days.The expression of p53 gene in the tumor tissue was tested by immunohistochemical assay.Spleen index,thymus index and tumor-inhibition rate were also observed.Results:The expression of p53 gene in all of Shenqi Huayu Formula groups was reduced,and the spleen index and thymus index were increased.Conclusion:Shenqi Huayu Formula can inhibit the expression of p53 gene and protect the immune organs of H22 tumor-bearing mice.
