Development of the new chromogenic medium for identification of Candida spp.

Objective:To develop a new chromogenic medium for isolation and identification of Candida spp.Methods: The new chromogenic medium was designed base on the characteristic enzyme of Candida spp.By using the reference strains,the sensitivity,specificity and efficiency of the new chromogenic media were compared with that of CHROMagar Candida.Results: The results showed that the selectivity and specificity of the developed chromogenic media were as the same as that of CHROMagar candid,but the colony characteristics appeared earlier in that of CHROMagar,moreover,by adding substrate 5-Br-4-Cl-3-indolyl-N-acetyl-β-D-galactosamine dry and 5-Br-4-Cl-3-indolyl-β-D-pyranoid rkatsiteli grapes reaction,C.albicans can not only be differentiated with C.dubliniensis but also be further confirmed.Conclusion: The new developed Chromogenic medium is effective for isolation and identification of C.albicans and 4 kinds of relative important Candida with short period and low cost and has good application value.
