An energy regenerating snubber for a forward converter is presented. The proposed snubber uses a tertiary transformer winding and beneficially exploits transformers' leakage inductances. The proposed snubber is capable of resetting the transformer, as well as eliminating leakage inductance voltage spike across the power switch. The proposed snubber recycles the recovered energy partially to the load and partially back to the source. This paper presents theoretical analysis, simulation and experimental results.
