Base Catalysis with Metal Oxides

Although less well studied, base catalysts are complimentary to their acid counterparts and whilst catalysing similar general types of reaction, pronounced differences in product distribution can be observed. In this chapter, methods for the determination of base site strength and distribution are reviewed, along with the application of specific base catalysts to a wide range of reactions.
