Abstract This chapter discusses the kinetic Monte Carlo (KMC) method, which is a powerful tool toward the accurate modeling of reactions on catalytic surfaces. We begin by reviewing the underpinnings of KMC simulation, and we proceed by discussing its applications in heterogeneous catalysis.
