Contemporary insights into the practice of work-integrated learning in Australia

With the expansion of work-integrated learning (WIL) across the higher education sector, it is timely to critically analyze and discuss WIL scholarship and practice. The theme of the book is enhancing employability through WIL for a sustainable future, which acknowledges the important role of WIL in supporting students' professional development. Drawing on latest research, scholarship, and practice innovations, the book examines recent developments across five broad key areas; teaching and learning, engagement with stakeholders, learning outcomes, diverse WIL practices, and structural support for WIL activities, with recommendation for future practice. A defining element of the WIL experience is the role of multiple stakeholders, where managing stakeholders' roles requires careful consideration. Emerging practices of WIL are examined along with benefits and how challenges might be managed. Finally, to ensure quality learning outcomes and additional benefits, consideration is given to support structures that need to be developed, resourced, and sustained.
