The current significant trends in climate change, the possibility of further changes, and the growing scope of possible climatic impacts make it imperative to address agricultural adaptation more comprehensively. For marginal changes in existing agricultural systems, there are a number of potential adaptation solutions, which are frequent variants of existing climate risk management. We demonstrate that the application of these choices is likely to have large benefits for various agricultural systems under mild climate change. However, their effectiveness is limited in the face of more severe climate change. Therefore, greater systemic changes in resource allocation, such as the targeted diversification of production systems and livelihoods, must be addressed. Increasing population, climate change, and the need for sustainable development threaten our agricultural system and food security. Evolutionary adaptation may help some organisms withstand climate-driven selection pressures. Evolutionary adaptability depends on several aspects, including genetic variation within species.
