Abstract By irradiation with fast neutrons the critical current densities Jc of Nb3Sn are modified in a characteristic manner depending on the irradiation dose. A short survey is given of the experimental work on this subject. By a model calculation it is shown that the modification of the critical current densities after low‐dose irradiation (Φ < 2 × 1018 neutrons/cm2) may be explained by a modification of the density of pinning centres and not by an influence on the intrinsic superconducting parameters, as assumed by other authors.
