Nonlinear mixing in optical signal processing

Kerr-effect based Nonlinear Optical Mixing is reviewed. The superiority of Four Wave Mixing over SPM and XPM in high speed data transmission is discussed. The applications of nonlinear mixing and use of Four Wave Mixing in optical signal processing in recent past is reviewed in the paper.
