Berberine Dissolution in Coptis-Rhubarb Compatibility

Objective: To analyze the effects of different Coptis-Rhubarb compatibilities on the dissolution changes of berberine and to optimize the Coptis-Rhubarb compatibility.Methods: The decoctions of 4 combine methods with 3 combine ratios were processed properly,then RP-HPLC was used to assay the content of berberine in each sample.Results: Among the observed combine ratios,the dissolutions of berberine in the admixed decoctions were respectively higher than those in the single decoctions;the contents of berberine decreased after centrifuging the admixed decoctions;the contents of berberine in the admixed decoctions increased when the Rhubarb decoction was first processed with gelatin.Conclusion: Mixing after boiled separately is better for keeping berberine in decoctions.
