The new application of MRI in diagnosis of viral encephalitis

Viral encephalitis is acute or chronic inflamation caused by virus that involved cerebral parenchyma.There are many kinds of virus which could lead to encephalitis,and clinical manifestations are different.The diagnosis of viral encephalitis still depends on laboratory examination.MR imaging has high tissue contrast resolution,and the diversity of encepalitis itself and peripheral brain tissues could be shown.It plays an important role in the diagnosis of viral encephalitis.With the developing of new sequences,MR imaging can show the disease better.It is helpful in diagnosis and treatment of viral encephalitis.The application of different MRI sequences in the diagnosis of viral encephalitis is summarized in this report.
