摘要
Paul Schilder's classic book, "The Image and Appearance of the Human Body," developed from a short manuscript published in 1923 in Germany under the title "Koerperschema." In this short but pertinent study Schilder shows those mechanisms of the central nervous system which are of importance for the development of the spacial image which everyone has about himself. He enlarged the original in later years and published in 1935 a book of which the present publication is a new edition. Schilder develops a new theory which incorporates in a psychological doctrine life and personality as a unit. He uses the insight psychoanalysis has given for the elucidation of problems of brain pathology. The book is based on empirical investigation concerning the image of the human body and in this way deals with one of the central problems of psychology.
