DECREE "ON STRENGTHENING THE PRINCIPLES OF RELIGIOUS TOLERANCE" ON APRIL 17, 1905: DEVELOPMENT OF BASIC LEGAL PROVISIONS

Статья посвящена рассмотрению вопроса подготовки и обсуждения в высших правительственных и церковных кругах Указа «Об укреплении начал веротерпимости», который был утвержден 17 апреля 1905 г. Анализ основных положений данного указа позволяет сделать вывод о том, что в Российской империи, в начале XX века была установлена ограниченная свобода вероисповеданий, которую можно определить как свободу выбора религии и свободу отправления религиозных обрядов. The article is devoted to the consideration of the issue of preparation and discussion in the highest governmental and ecclesiastical circles of the Decree "On strengthening the principles of religious tolerance", which was approved on April 17, 1905. An analysis of the main provisions of this decree allows us to conclude that in the Russian Empire, at the beginning of the XX century, limited freedom of religion was established, which can be defined as freedom of choice of religion and freedom of religious rites.
