The inhibition capability of Camellia chrysantha flower extract on Q235 steel in 1 M HCl was investigated using electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, polarization curve and weight loss method. This study was conducted to assess the efficacy of adding corrosion inhibitor to prevent Q235 steel from being corroded by the acid cleaning solution. FTIR spectrum showed that the extract of Camellia chrysantha contained carboxyl, hydroxyl, benzene, aromatic heterocyclic, double bond and other functional groups. As the temperature of the environment increases, the inhibition efficiency of corrosion inhibitors in pickling solutions decreases, while the concentration of the inhibitor has the opposite effect. The polarization curve indicated that the inhibitor was a mixed inhibitor. Impurity ions (Fe3+) have obvious influence on corrosion inhibition performance. Fe3+ reduces corrosion inhibition. When Fe3+ concentration is 500 mg/L, the inhibition efficiency is 65.13%.
