Comparative analysis of HCSR based on ultimate strength of intact ships and residual strength in damaged condition

Smith method is a conventional method to calculate ship ultimate bending moment. The damage process of structural members of the transverse cross section is illustrated by increasing longitudinal bending curvature progressively, combined with mechanics performance analysis of effective elements, and bending moment-curvature curve of hull girder is to be obtained. Considering postbuckling character of structural members, Smith method is simple and convenient to use, which has a better accuracy.
