Synthesis of tert-butyl methacrylate with methacrylic acid and isobutylene

Tert-butyl methacrylate was synthesized in fix bed reactor by using methacrylic acid and isobutylene as starting material,tert-butanol as olefin polymerization inhibitor. The influence factors including acid-isobutylene ratio,temperature,pressure and space velocity were investigated. The result showed that the optimal conditions showed that the acid-isobutylene ratio was 3,the temperature was 40 ℃,the pressure was 0. 5 MPa and the space velocity was 4 h-1. Under the condition,the conversion of methacrylic acid was 53. 4%,the conversion of isobutylene was 80. 6%,and the selectivity was up 96. 5%.
