Study on Properties of Wood Flour/PP Composites Modified by Compatibilization with PP-g-MAH

With PP-g-MAH as compatibilizer,PP as matrix,wood flour/PP composites were prepared by melt blending.The effect of PP-g-MAH content on the mechanical properties and water absorption properties of wood plastic composites(WPC)was studied.The impact fracture surface of the WPC was observed by means of SEM.The results showed that when the content of PP-g-MAH was 4%,the tensile strength and flexural strength of the WPC with 35% wood flour increased,respectively by 49.4% and 16% higher than that without adding compatibilizer,and notch impact strength decreased by only 9%.SEM micrographs demonstrated that the interfacial interaction between wood flour and PP was improved with PP-g-MAH addition.From the water absorption rate,wood flour/PP composites absorption rate remained below 0.22%,far lower than the pure wood.
