Inotropic Agents: An Overview

Improvement in myocardial contractility by inotropic agents is a critical component in the management of heart failure. Unfortunately although many drugs have been shown to have positive inotropic effects on the heart, few of these agents have been found to be useful in the treatment of heart failure in man (Farah & Alousi, 1978). This review will concentrate on drugs which appear to have the greatest potential for clinical use. These keywords were added by machine and not by the authors.
