Correlativity between Apparent Starch Contents and Amylose Contents in Potato

The apparent starch contents of forty eight potato varieties and the amylose contents of their tubers and starches were determined,and then the correlations between the apparent starch contents and the tuber smylose contents as well as the correlation between the apparent starch contents and the starch-granule amylose was analyzed.The results indicated that the apparent starch contents appeared to significantly correlate to the tuber amylose contents,the apparent starch contents did not appear to significantly correlate to the starch-granule amylose contents,and the apparent starch contents did not appeared to significantly correlate to the starch-granule amylose in late- and early-maturity potato genotpyes.These would provide the basic genotypic data for theoretical researches of starch biosynthesis and improvement of starch quality.
