Analysis of Permanent Magnet Eddy-current Brake with Finite Element Method

In order to study the braking for a new linear drive,this paper explains the advantages of finite element method(FEM)over analytical method after introducing the principle of permanent magnet eddy-current brake,Then it analyzes the permanent magnet eddy-current brake,and designs the experimental system using FEM.Compared with the analytical and experimental results,it is confirmed that the permanent magnet eddy-current brake is an effective braking method and FEM is suitable for analyzing it.
