Objective:To investigate the efficacy and adverse reactions of Edaravone in the treatment of acute cerebral infarction(ACI).Methods: Seventy cases of ACI,enrolled within 48 h of onset, were randomly divided into the Edaravone group(35 cases) and control group(35 cases).Edaravone was infused at a dose of 30 mg,twice a day,for 14 days. The therapies of the control group were similar to those of Edaravone group except for Edaravone. The Chinese Stroke Scale(SSS) and activities of daily living(ADL) were evaluated before and 7,14,21 days after treatment. Results: On the 21st day after treatment,CSS score(10.21 ±4.75) was significantly reduced as compared with that ((22.09±)9.16) before treatment in Edaravone group(P0.01),and so did in control group(13.49±5.36 vs 21.56±10.27,P0.05).The CSS score before treatment in Edaravone group was significantly lower than that of control group (P0.05).There was a significant difference in ADL score in Edaravone group before(38.26±17.45) and after((68.72±)25.43) treatment(P0.01),So did in control group(37.33±18.70 vs 53.72±25.76,P0.01).The ADL score before treatment in Edaravone group was significantly higher than that of control group(P 0.05).There were no distinct adverse reactions in Edaravone group. Conclusion:Edaravone can improve the neurological function impairment and ADL of acute cerebral infarction patients, without obvious adverse reactions.
