摘要
Coenzyme Q10(CoQ10)acts as a necessary part for oxidative phosphorylation and the synthesis of ATP.It has been confirmed so far as the effective treatment to mitochondrial diabetes mellitus.Studies suggest that CoQ10 supplements not only improve insulin resistance and cellular mitochondrial respiration by decreasing oxidative stress,but also attenuate atherosclerosis by reacting with oxygen radicals,reducing lipid peroxidation,and enhancing the synthesis of NO.Furthermore,CoQ10 can also mitigate side effects caused by statins,and co-activate PPAR α with fibrates to enhance its hypolipidemic effect.CoQ10 appears most promising for the prevention and delay of diabetes and its complications.
