Research Progress on the Preparation of Levulinic Acid Using Biomass

With the exhaustion of petroleum resources,it has become the global attention focus in producing fuel and chemicals from renew-able biomass resource.Levulinic acid,which can be produced from biomass,is an important platform compound having high reactivity and extensive uses.The research and development on the production and application of levulinic acid from biomass were reviewed,including the issues with catalysis and purification.The future research directions were pointed out.
