Objective To investigate the expression of monocyte chemoattractant protein 1(MCP 1) and infiltration of monocyte/macrophage(MФ) in renal tissue of mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis (MsPGN). Methods MCP 1 expression and MФ infiltration in the renal biopsy tissues of 17 MsPGN patients were studied with immunohistochemical method and in situ hybridization. Results ①In mild MsPGN group, little MФ infiltration and MCP 1 expression were observed in glomerular and renal tubulointerstitial areas was found ( P 0.05). ②In medium MsPGN group, MCP 1 and CD68 expression were significantly higher than that in normal control ( P 0.01). The number of cells expressed MCP 1 in glomerular and tubulointer stitial areas showed a strong correlation with the number of MФ infiltration ( r =0.90, P 0.01, r =0.86, P 0.01) . Conclusion ①In medium MsPGN, MФ participates in and mediates the inflammation of both glomerular and tubulointerstitial areas. ②MФ infiltration in glomerular and tubulointerstitial areas may be chemoattracted partially by MCP 1.
