Objective To compare the clinical effect of laparoscopic myomectomy(LM) and traditional open excision(TAM) in treating large or multiple uterus myoma. Methods From December 2006 to December 2008,71 patients with large or multiple uterine myoma were admitted in our hospital, among which 38 patients were treated with LM(LM group),and 33 were treated with TAM(TAM group).Surgery time, hospital stays, hospital costs, blood loss in surgery, postoperative flatus, postoperative complications, postoperative pain were compared between the two groups. Results There were significant differences between surgery time, blood loss in surgery, hospital stays and hospitalization costs(P 0.01).And there were significant differences between postoperative flatus time, postoperative pain ratings and the incidence of complications(P 0.05).Conclusion LM is effective in treating large or multiple uterine fibroids, with less trauma, shorter hospital stay, fewer complications and quicker recovery. It is a safe and effective minimal invasive surgery.
