Characteristics and utilization of groundwater resources in Hainan Island

Hainan Island is of rich groundwater resources and fine water quality, especially in the northern area. The groundwater resources are mainly replenished by rainfall. Bedrock fissured groundwater and unconsolidated rock water account for 79 percent of the total groundwater resources in the island. The groundwater exploited is only 8.14% of the water volume available. Comprehensive planning, rational allocation and comprehensive development are of great meaning to the groundwater resources in Hainan Island.
