Abstract Nanofluidics is an emerging research field, which deals with fluid flow on the nanometer scale. It is being boosted by the ongoing development of nanotechnological tools and techniques, and it contains the potential for both basic research, e.g. an improved understanding of the limitations and ultimate breakdown of the classical continuum description of fluid dynamics for spatially confined liquids, as well as for technology, e.g. the development of devices for handling of single molecules in solution. In this chapter we shall study a few selected topics within nanofluidics.
