Systemic fungicides. The synthesis of certain pyrazole analogues of carboxin

Methods are described for the synthesis of 1,3-dimethyl-N-phenylpyrazole-4-carboxamid (3) and the isomeric 1,5-dimethyl compound (4), structural analogues of the systemic fungicide carboxin. Evidence confirming the structural assignment of the compounds is presented, and a convenient method for the removal of the amino group from some aminopyrazoles is described.
