Objective To observe the therapeutical effect of conventional mechanical ventilation (CMV) on pulmonary edema after seawater drowning in rabbits. Methods Fourteen seawater drawing induced pulmonary edema New Zealand rabbits models were randomly assigned to received CMV treatment. Blood gas analysis, pulmodynamic, hemodynamics status and tumor necrosis factor (TNFα) extracted from serum were monitored at various time point. After 3 hours ventilation, 7 rabbits of each groups were killed to gain lung tissues for pathology examination and lung lavage fluid was analyzed for the count leukocyte. Results PaO2 and SO2 were significandy increased after the use of ventilation in pulmonary edema rabbits models (P 0.01). Pulmodynamics and hemodynamics were ameliorated. The results of TNFa monitor and the count of leukocytes show that the degree of lung injury were relieved. Conclusion Our study showed CMV were significantly improve hypoxemia of PE-SWD rabbits models, and relieved the degree of lung injury to some extend.
