ChemInform Abstract: Coumarin Dyes from 5‐ and 7‐Hydroxy‐1,2,4‐trimethyl‐1,2,3,4‐tetrahydroquinolines.

Abstract Methylation of 5‐hydroxy‐2,4‐dimethylquinoline (I) and subsequent hydrogenation give the tetrahydroquinoline (IV) which is cyclized with the trifluoroacetoacetate (VI) or the chlorocyanobutenoate (VII), producing the pyrano(2,3‐f)quinolines (V).
