A digital droplet micro-mixer fabricated on 128°Y cut X LiNbO3 is reported,which there are two interdigital transducers and reflectors.After a RF signal is added on a interdigital transducer after amplified by a power amplifier,surface acoustic wave excided by the interdigital transducer is conversed into longitudinal acoustic wave and drives digital droplet,which is merging another droplet on the same acoustic path.With reflected wave the merged droplets are mixed quickly by its rapid molecular diffusion.Experiments of mixing 1 μL water with 1 μL red water and mixing 1 μl red water with 1 μL glycerine show that the micro-mixer can quickly mix droplets by surface acoustic wave.The research is valuable for its low cost and easy integrated in lab-on-a-chip.
