The influence of gamma irradiation on the electron work function of platinum plate was investigated as a function of oxygen pressure. On the other hand the influence of e.w.f. value of investigated samples before irradiation was examined on the effect observed after irradiation at the same oxygen pressure. It was found that irradiation caused changes of e.w.f. values but the magnitude of observed effects and/or their signs depend on the oxygen pressure and on the e.w.f. values of investigated samples before the irradiation.
