Study on Teaching Uyghur Reading

Uyghur language as a second language has been used more widely in daily life, work and study in recent years as Xinjiang's economy is rapidly growing. Reading holds an important position in teaching and learning Uyghur language. The article analyses the requirements, selection and content compilation of in class and outside class reading texts. It suggests thethree-stepprinciple of familiarization stage, consolidation stage, and advanced stage. It combines the teaching experiences and the comprehension of Uyghur reading curriculum, and summarises five teaching reading strategies ascomplete reading teaching steps,interactive learning strategyimaginative teaching strategy,speed reading strategy,andLatin reading insertion strategy. It aims to better achieve the objectives of teaching and learning Uyghur language.
