Effect of Composite Carbon Source on DHA Accumulation in crypthecodinium Cohnii

Our goal is to test the effect of the single carbon source and composite carbon sources on the accumulation of DHA in Crypthecodinium cohnii ATCC30772.Our results indicat that glucose is the best single carbon source,glucose and glycerin are the best composite carbon sources in batch fermentation.DHA production based on the usage of composite carbon sources is 120.9percent of the DHA production based on the single carbon source in batch fermentation.However,in the repeated fed-batch fermentation,both glucose and glycerin are the best single carbon sources,carbon sources of glucose and sucrose are the best composite carbon sources,and the use of the composite carbon sources could lead to 23.6percent more DHA than the use of single carbon source.Our results indica that the composite carbon sources have more superiorities than the single carbon source in the growth of Crypthecodinium cohnii and the accumulation of DHA.
