On the basis of systematical study, the comprehensive effects of alloying elements in cryogenic austenitic steels were analyzed.Alloying elements influence a and e martensite phase transformation, and Ms and Mes,especially through their effect on stacking-fault energy and yield strength of austenite. It is the effect that determines the characteristics of deformation and fracture of austenitic steels. In cryogenic austenitic steels, there is no absolute linear relationship between Ms(Mes)and σγ0.2|Ms.
