摘要
The agri-food sector is transforming into a digital food economy. This chapter evaluates how this evolving digital food economy operates in the food supply chain. This chapter documents how this evolution works and its challenges in food regulation and data governance. Given China’s prominence in the digital food economy, this chapter considers China’s relatively comprehensive regulatory mechanism for general data governance. This chapter also assesses other jurisdictions like the EU, the US, and Australia and their efforts to shape the future of the digital food economy. It remains to be seen to what extent China’s online food regulation model can be an option for other jurisdictions and how institutional law might evolve to affect the digital food economy in China and elsewhere. As digital technologies advance and further transform the digital food economy, a continuing study of its forms and regulations is worthwhile.
