Research progress on animal models of experimental terminal neuroma and their evaluation methods

Background Terminal neuroma model is an important tool to investigate the mechanism and prevention strategies of post-amputation pain(PAP). There isn′t an agreed method to establish this animal model. Objective Providing references for effective modeling through exploring the methods of establishing terminal neuroma models and related modeling issues. Content This review is to give a brief summary about the animal models of terminal neuroma and their evaluation methods according to the difference of nerve transected. Trend There is not an uniform and standard method to build a terminal neuroma model so far.
